BLUEDOT’S

Privacy Declaration

We believe privacy is a human right.

We believe compliance with local and global privacy protection legislation is just the starting point. To effectively protect each individual’s right to privacy within the location data industry, certain principles (in addition to the law) must be upheld with integrity, transparency, and dedication.

These privacy principles – identified in consultation with leading privacy experts and policymakers – distinguish Bluedot in the location industry and set a new bar for delivering real value while protecting end-user privacy.

Bluedot’s Privacy Principles

I. Direct, Transparent Value
II. Proportional Data Collection
III. No Ongoing Tracking
IV. High Performance for High Value
V. On-Device Processing
VI. Clear, Accessible Disclosures
VII. No Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
VIII. No Device IDs or Advertising IDs
IX. No Combining of Data Sets or Data Sales

We, the co-founders of Bluedot, are committed to these privacy principles as we continue to invent groundbreaking location technologies, build solutions that have a positive and lasting impact, and diligently care for the usage and functionality of said technologies and solutions.

Our commitment is evident in the following ongoing practices.

Bluedot’s Privacy Principles in Practice

I. Direct, Transparent Value

Bluedot’s technology powers experiences that are directly valuable and relevant to the end-user. These experiences prioritize the consumer’s needs. Examples include contactless mobile order pickup, frictionless drive-thru, mobile-first automated toll payments, gamified experiences, emergency communications, and more.

II. Proportional Data Collection

Bluedot’s technology only collects and records the least amount of location data needed to deliver a valuable experience to customers. For example, when our technology is powering a contactless drive-thru solution, we only record location data that is directly necessary to power a frictionless pick up at the drive-thru.

III. No Ongoing Tracking

Bluedot’s technology does not track people throughout their day. It does not identify where people work, live, or spend their time. It only identifies when they approach or reach a location relevant to a specific customer experience where they receive value.

IV. High Performance for High Value

Bluedot’s technology has been specifically built to power high accuracy location awareness to enable high-value experiences for customers. Bluedot’s accuracy down to 10 meters powers valuable experiences for consumers such as automated check-in, frictionless drive-thru, etc. that wouldn’t be possible without high accuracy.

V. On-Device Processing

Bluedot’s technology, whenever possible, keeps and processes location data on-device to both further protect consumer privacy and enhance the performance of the location technology – such as powering immediate and precise location triggers to automate check-in on customer arrival.

VI. Clear, Accessible Disclosures

Bluedot contractually obligates customers using our technology to disclose to their users how their location data is being used via an end-user license agreement.

We believe these end-user disclosures shouldn’t be buried in the app’s terms and conditions but should be contextually shown in-app as value is delivered to the user. Therefore, we consistently educate, support, and guide our customers on best practices for obtaining permission from end-users.

VII. No Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Bluedot never requests personal information from end-users such as phone numbers, email addresses, IP addresses, usernames, or similar information. This personal information is not needed to deliver value to end-users, therefore it is never requested.

VIII. No Device-Level IDs or Advertising IDs

Bluedot never generates IDs that can help identify which device someone is using. We only use app-level identification. For example, if someone deletes and re-downloads an app with Bluedot technology in it, a new app download identification would be given. We do not and, in fact, cannot combine data from multiple apps to identify a specific device or user.

Bluedot never collects advertising identifiers (e.g. IDFA).

IX. No Combining of Data Sets or Data Sales

Bluedot keeps location data from each customer separate from other customers. As we never collect device or advertising IDs, we never combine our data with other external data sets. An app can only see location data that is generated through itself, not from other apps powered by Bluedot’s technology.

Bluedot never sells location data it generates to third parties under any circumstances.

With integrity, transparency, and dedication, we – the co-founders of Bluedot – uphold these principles in protection of the human right to privacy.
