Bluedot Raises $9.1 Million Series B and Launches Time-Based Arrival Technology
We started Bluedot eight years ago on the premise that we could automate tolling. This challenging quest led us through an R&D journey to detect moving vehicles at high speeds across toll sites and take payment on the app - all without any interaction while driving.
On the back of this technology, we set out to help mobile product owners, app developers, marketers, and operation teams deliver bespoke app experiences. It’s clear there is a need in the app marketplace for technology that can unlock real impact and convenience for consumers.
Undoubtedly, 2020 has already become a year for history books bringing unprecedented change to consumers and businesses alike. Never before has it been so critical for businesses to pivot - moving from physical experience to the online experience and back. And location is the catalyst.
At Bluedot, we’re on a mission to unlock the power of place by helping businesses leverage location to build meaningful interactions and frictionless experiences for consumers on-the-go. Our company continues to grow as consumers demand and expect businesses to deliver timely, convenient, and contactless services.
Today, we’re excited to announce a $9.1 million Series B funding led by Autotech Ventures, including participation by existing investor Transurban and new investors Forefront Ventures, IAG Firemark Ventures, and Mighty Capital. Alexei Andreev, from Autotech Ventures, has joined our board along with Jennifer Azapian, from Mighty Capital as a board observer.
With our new funding, we’re expanding our technology to power more impactful experiences for consumers on-the-go. We’re launching Tempo, a predictive time-based arrival technology that will allow businesses to receive real-time alerts to know when a consumer is approaching.
Tempo enables a seamless customer hand-off – whether keeping groceries refrigerated until the very last moment, ensuring a to-go order is hot upon customer arrival, or limiting customer interactions for safety reasons. Tempo’s predictive arrival technology eliminates guessing when a customer will most likely arrive traditionally powered by distance-based order fulfillment. By using a time-based approach instead, businesses have more insight into when to prepare food, fulfill orders, or meet customers curbside for minimized contact.
Best of all, there’s no waiting and no manual customer check-ins. Plus, license plate numbers and other vehicle identifiers are not necessary. Frictionless engagements are finally a reality with Tempo.
As we’ve evolved as a company, we wanted our brand to align with the valuable, high-impact experiences we deliver. So we are unveiling our new branding and our all-new website.
Underneath this fresh new look is our robust geofencing platform without trade-offs. Privacy and security have always been top of mind for us - and that’s not changing.
We’re proud to have global brands like Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s, and Transurban entrust us with their first-party customer data. Protecting privacy isn’t just something we talk about, it’s what we do. We see ourselves as sentinels in the location data services space, ensuring the brands we work with - and their customers - are protected. This is why we chose to only build features that enhance the consumer experience and will not build features for the sake of collecting information (such as home detection). We do not sell or share location data.
This is our commitment to privacy.
A huge shout out to our talented Bluedot team. And, thanks to all the advisors, investors, partners, and most of all, customers who believed in us. We couldn’t have come this far without you.
We’ve come a long way since our early days from an R&D firm to a thriving startup serving global brands. But, we’re just getting started!
